Thought i'd make a topic just for our pics and vids, to save finding them in the multipage main topic.
Here's a race i did last night. Was right on the limits of traction most of the race, great fun.
And on the last lap it may look like i was trying to take the 911 out, but i was actually just trying to figure out where he was, as well as try to get the car back under control.
I actually restarted this race maybe ten times or more, just to have it as clean as possible. Too much contact with other cars in previous attempts (because the F40 is a handful...).
You kinda sorta maybe can muck around on GT ati. When i was playing GT6 online in drift lobbies we all used to park up at an unused section of track and watch everyone drift past. Or on the Nurburgring we used to use the long final straight as a drag strip. Etc.
Expansion Pass is 50% off this week, making it $25.45.
With the $25 Xbox Live code i won from a recent Yoobee night, it left me with $0.45 to pay...
After talking with my accountant, juggling a few non urgent automatic payments around, taking out a small loan and requesting more hours at work, i managed to budget for the 45 cent expansion pass.
So far it's been worth my efforts. Took a Falcon ute with standard tyres on for a trip up the mountain, drifting around most of the snowy corners, until i got to the deep snow and steepness to the point where it just wouldn't go any further up the hill.
Love how they programmed the traction level in snow/ice with normal tyres, with ice especially - park on it, floor it and when you get to redline in 6th gear you might have moved a few centimeters.
We so need to do some races with normal tyres in powerful rear wheel drive cars when enough people get this DLC.
Sweet, cheers Sassy, D4nzy etc for hosting/prizeing etcering.
It was quite a well run/set up event with the points system, types of classes raced (perfect classes too, not too slow and not too fast) and so on.
If done again i'd keep it exactly the same, except maybe add on an extra race, for S class cars one week and D class the next (then back to S the following)? Just so we have a little more variety maybe. I dunno, i'd be perfectly happy doing everything the same again.
People need to get them cars lookin purdy too, i tried to avoid, if possible, using cars that i hadn't put liveries on or changed the paint/body kit to something i like.
And the points would have been a lot closer between 2nd and 3rd if i didn't race so horribly and choose all the wrong cars on the last night. Oh well. Fluke still would have bet me, but not by as much.
Dad got me into gaming, probably not intentionally but we had Atari's back in the day, mid 80's, so guess it started around then. I always got told off for trying to play Leisure Suit Larry. Tried playing Dungeon Master a few times. And a scary game called Killer Caterpillar or something (which i can't find any info on ANYWHERE), where they kept getting closer to you from in the distance unless you shot them or something.
Also liked the games where you type in directions for the game to do and it comes back with responses like "I don't recognize that word" or "Stop swearing you little s...!"
From there i think it was SimCity 1 that i remember all my classmates playing (we only had one or two computers with it at school for a while) in intermediate school (we must be similar ages Sassydot), i always wanted to have a go but usually missed out. Remember finding it really fascinating and loved the times i did get to briefly play it.
Around that time or earlier/later we had a Master System, then a Mega Drive, then i won or got given a Mega CD (Mega Drive with CD attachment). Later on i won a Sega Saturn in a Yoplait/other yogurt company competition. Loved that for years, and really enjoyed the game 'Nights' - incredible graphics and the ability to fly/float around in the air (in-game obviously).
I remember being a die hard Sega fanboy, and didn't like the new kid on the block at all, the Sony PlayStation. But over the months/years the Saturn game selection at the local video rental stores wasn't growing by very much, while the PS1 games were spreading like a virus.
Then one Christmas Mum rented out a PlayStation. I wasn't happy. Then after a while i played it. A few months/years later i sold my Sega Saturn, and said goodbye to Sega. I had the Sonyvirus.
Rode that PlayStation to bits, countless hours on Gran Turismo 2 (still the best GT), multiple playthroughs of Metal Gear Solid, many Tomb Raider games played etc. Only when i had a PS3 i think did i finally buy GT1 (having bought every other GT on sale to this point), and to date it's the only one i haven't finished 100% as can't get used to the handling!.
Almost copy paste with the other new kid on the block years later, the Microsoft Xbox. Hated it with a passion. Cos it wasn't Sony. Then Project Gotham came out. I played it a little on my brothers console. Then Forza Motorsport came out. Maybe this system isn't so bad after all. But i still won't buy one. Spent a tonne of time on Forza designing cars (which i did less and less of thru the Forza generations, to the point where i haven't put a single decal on any car in Forza Horizon 3.
Then the PS3 came along with it's many cool games. Went through about as many PS3's as i did PS2's, because they just didn't make them as flawlessly as the PS1. Nearing the end of the PS3's life i finally bought my first Xbox, a 360 Elite. And then stocked up on Forza's. My brother was happy, as i finally stopped borrowing his one all the time.
Then the mighty PS4 came out, so bought it. And a while later i bought the Xbone. No plans to upgrade to PS Pro or Scorpio/S unless either current console dies a horrible death and i feel i have unfinished business, so need to replace. But lets hope that doesn't happen.
It goes a little something like this (not all owned by me, but owned by my family over the years that i've played on a lot)
Atari > Microsoft PC > Sega Master System > Sega Mega Drive > Sega Mega CD > Sega Saturn > Sony PlayStation > Sony PlayStation 2 > Microsoft Xbox > Sony PlayStation 3 > Sony PlayStation Portable > Microsoft Xbox 360 > Sony PlayStation 4 > Microsoft Xbox One
