Today i got a pay rise. I also have 2 months annual leave saved up. Annual leave is like an investment for your pay because everytime I get a pay rise they are worth more.

Smrat though. *Steals move*

I'd steal move but I like not being at work too much.

My boss once contracted me out to another company for something like $120 per hour. Meanwhile I was being paid minimum wage.

$152/hr and expecting to go up here, while on a fraction of that.

But you're a coder so you are probably making a big fraction of that.

Like 8/9ths :P

#779564 Games You've Actually Completed Recently

Yea my top 2 would be black flag and syndicate too.

BUT if I went straight from the genius that was black flag, to syndicate I could see my opinion being different.

I certainly enjoyed Unity more than most, and I liked Rogue but 2 years and those games gives a good chunk of time between those releases.

Loved Origins too.

Man 40 bucks is a reasonable price.

With how much of a hit they could up that and still sell like gang busters. Good move player unknown and all of his battlegrounds. Good move.

On a positive note I'm flying up to the semi this weekend England vs. Tonga, can't wait! Should be an amazing atmosphere.

Have you got a red shirt to wear? The Tongan supporters will be WICKED.

I'll be praying for a Fiji upset. A Fiji Tonga final would make me feel better about our sh*t run.

Ha ha, no but i might have to pick one up. My Kiwi's one from the late 1980's I originally planned to wear probably won't got down that well now I fear lol. Yeah should be an epic party to be a part of, really looking forward to it!

Or it will go down great and you will just be laughed at, a lot! :P

#778013 B*tch Thread

Posted by drunk_monk on 15 November 2017 - 04:28 PM

well I might have some empathy if it didn't look like they're throwing a tantrum to get attention, which will very likely having no effect on the company

Are they cutting hourly wage rates? Are they removing basic employee rights like sick and annual leave? Is the company trying to keep their costs down by reducing staff numbers?

And how would you provide resources for approx 400 staff walking off the job with less than 48 hours notice?

So your not empathizing with people who has said "f*** it, if you are going to just f*** me over, I wont turn up tomorrow"?

This isnt a temper tantrum.  This is months of negotiations failing, and a strike that didn't inconvenience you failing, and TRANSDEV choosing to inconvenience you rather than keep providing their staff their current levels of pay (including non cash).

So Transdev likely knew about this strike for more than 48 hours, but chose to not stop it.  They chose to inconvenience you because its cheaper that way.

Just remember, if you buy a phone and the screen cracks, to be consistent.  Make sure you blame the screen and not the companies providing it to you because you blame the resources for failing, not the companies you pay the money to for the good and\or service.

Either that or your saying the only resource you don't give a f*** about is people.

This total lack of empathy for people is starting to piss me off so I will need to bow out of this.

I am personally going to complain to Transdev because they are failing to provide a service I pay a lot for.  And their failure to attain necessary resources for the service due to the price, is their responsibility, not mine, or the resources itself.

the problem is that the strike isn't hurting Transdev, it is hurting a good portion of Wellington's citizens and employers.

A majority of people who catch the train don't have much choice. Those rich enough to drive don't catch the train. The one's that do catch it rely on it, and will keep using it no matter the reputation of Transdev.

The strike may bring some public awareness, not that they are making it overly public what the issues are, but it sure as hell aint going to stop 30,000 regular train users from using the trains until the company gives into the union

That's the point though.  They aren't striking at you.

I want to make this super clear, they aren't striking you!!!!  They aren't trying to inconvenience you!

They are saying that if their employer is going to keep taking sh*t away from them, they wont turn up to work.

The reason you are being inconvenienced is because Transdev doesn't care about you enough as a consumer to ensure the service you pay for is available.

They could not take away rights, they could put on alternative services, they could do a multitude of things.  Because it will cost them money, and inevitably their shareholder less profit, they don't care about pissing their consumers off.

Transdev has taken enough away from their staff that their staff want to not turn up for work. I'm sure that if your employer took enough away from you, you would cross a line where you didn't turn up for work.  And it is your employers responsibility to continue keep customers/clients happy, with or without you.

Just to be ultra clear:

The only reason you are impacted tomorrow, is that Transdev does not care enough about you as a consumer, to ensure the service operates tomorrow.

The staff are just their resources, that they are failing to manage.

If all of the engines broke down tomorrow, and there had been warnings in advance, would you get pissed off at steel?  I doubt it.

Transdev is f***ing you over tomorrow.  and if you cant empathize with people being f***ed by their bosses, and would rather blame the resources, rather than the company selling the service to you and not meeting the requirements, I cant help you.

It gets the message across, it's not about convenience. Sure it sucks but so does bullshit pay and working conditions, you get shafted one day they get shafted every day so I say good on them for taking a stand.

I don't oppose the idea of the action. It's just going to f*** me personally, which miffs me hard.

It may not impact them that I likely won't see my boy that night as the roads are clogged up, but I don't have to like it.

I don't know their personal situations or personal paychecks in regards to experience levels/ working conditions. I just know what it's costing me as a commuter trying to give his family a leg up in life.

I don't find many 'comedians' funny... this guy should be denied access to NZ. Offending people and swearing is not humour.

You literally complained about being banned from stuffs Facebook page or something because you wrote offensive comments and your defence was it's a joke.

#774832 Please don't buy Shadow of War

Posted by drunk_monk on 14 October 2017 - 07:41 PM

To be fair its in the title. 'Please don't buy Shadow of War'. Granted its more of a request than an order.

If someone is making a comment like "i dont appreciate being told what to do" to that question, even with the word please, that seems odd.

Like if a sign said please drive responsibly it would weird to object to being told what to do.

It just seems to me like it was the only pro-other side angle that they could come up with.

#774705 Please don't buy Shadow of War

Posted by drunk_monk on 13 October 2017 - 05:09 PM

I brought it and enjoying playing it.. Doesn't mean that I have to buy into the War Chests to enjoy the game in whole.

Let me put it to you like this:

Say McDonald's had a donation box on their front counter which was to support Neo-Nazi's promotion against mixed race families. You are only buying the burger right? So would you be ok eating there if you weren't donating?
promoting racial hatred is a wee bit different to having optional cosmetic items in a game. A better analogy would be McDs asking if you want to pay extra for a blue bag

Yea I'm not a fan of that analogy.

I'd say it's more like McDonald's charging extra for the burgers box and you have a random chance at getting the right box and then thry potentially make the burger a total mess to transport without the box.

But the box is totally optional unless you want to move the burger or spend hours loving at snail pace to ensure your walking doesn't make it fall apart.

Everyone is totally entitled to play the game. But people not buying the game is the only way to discourage it. I'll buy the game when EB has a sale in 6 months where it's 60 bucks or something.
