All backs made way too many mistakes plus the lions were actually really good

I feel like the Barrets were trying to win the game on their own. Especially Beauden in the 2nd half

Should have laid an extra 20 points on them. Sure the ref was a bit shite with a few bad decisions and some inconsistencies but you cant have 5-6 knock-ons in the opposition 22 going for a try from a set piece or off the first or second phase (1 of the turnovers was also that ridiculous quick scrum penalty he gave them after we just buried them and got the turnover, "so yeh ref we won the scrum so decided to collapse the next one when we have the ball?!?")

It was ours to lose in both the second and third, esp the third, but helped by the refs in both in the last minutes of both games (both of them succumb to the pressure)

I dont think the ref was that bad. He wussed out of the offside call (a big one, sure)... but other than that and the odd scrum penalty which are usually a gamble anyways I feel like he tried to let the game flow. The handling errors were more disruptive than the ref.

Basically what I said in 2 lines, instead of 6  :P  and totally agree, too many knock-ons and own turnovers were more the issue... we do that vs auz and SA and it might be losses, just making it hard for ourselves...

Kind of ironic that a former Warrior scored our first try and then we started playing like them.

Not even going to be one eyed about but say that it was one time a squad picked on experience backfired instead of actual game performance.  Too many injured or under injury cloud people picked & with massive lack of game time (Read, SBW & a few others).  Putting Cruden & Faumuina on the squad when they are buggering off overseas denying someone else a spot is perplexing.  As far as I can remember Joride has been taking the majority of the shots at goal for the Hurricanes so Beauden was well out of practise & it showed.

Bring on the Super rugby so this dragged out season can finish & roll on the ITM Cup where the results are far less predictable.

Shot Canes for giving the Lions a home final. Top stuff! Looks like two different pride of Lions are gonna screw us in one year.

Also, you get a home semi for winning 6 f**king games all season LMFAO.

More like shot saders for not knowing how how to play rugby tonight and costing themselves top dog and allowing the canes to travel to oz instead of sa. Thanks!

Yes I wish I had put down $10 on the Sunwolves because they were paying $12.

It was a case of deja vu for the Crusaders.  A decent run yet again thwarted by the annoying midyear test.  Wasn't helped by our appaling penalty count.

I wish they would either start the Super Rugby earlier or scrapped the midyear tests instead of this stupid stop start mode or at the very least play all the round robin matches so everyone knows where they stand instead of this travel debacle.

Such a shame when money is king.

Agreed, less super games or make sure the tests are AFTER Super rugby.
Though, with 2 or 3 teams getting removed next year, perhaps that will be able to align things better

If it wasn't so much about the almighty dollar I would say sayonara to the South African sides.  Let the aussies have their 5 teams add the sunwolves & put the jaguares in our pool then we are back to super 12.

Play each other once like the old days none of this home & away crap.  They will use the excuse that more people watch the NZ derbies but newsflash SkyTV it's probably because it's on at a decent time instead of 3 in the morning.  Hell even the Argentina games played at about 8AM our time.

You could even push it to Super 14 if you included the finalists of the Pacific Cup or whatever it is called now so they actually have something to aim for outside of World Cup qualification.

Definitely agree! Play everyone once because it gives a far more accurate idea of how teams are actually doing.

Also *idea stolen from husband* they should add something like the Ranfurly Shield into the competition, so it generates more interest during the season and is only contestable during the holder's home games.

Would agree with letting SA teams go, they've previously threatened to go and play with Europe instead. NZ already gets hassled about needing to blood more teams from the Pacific and that would be a good way to do that.

Too bad SA teams generate too much money for SANZAR for them to just let them leave.

Current systems a joke but money talks unfortunately

If sa leave super rugby is done. The lions are a top team, sure they haven't played kiwi sides this year but they did last year and we're finalists.

The competition is a mess, rugby in sa and aus are in dire need of help besides lions.

Japan is massive for revenue and the jagures are a competitive side sometimes, but they are growing the rugby scene there hugely.

When you realise a lone Japanese team with 2 wins all season has more wins against NZ teams than all of the Australian teams combined :D
