I brought it and enjoying playing it.. Doesn't mean that I have to buy into the War Chests to enjoy the game in whole.

Let me put it to you like this:

Say McDonald's had a donation box on their front counter which was to support Neo-Nazi's promotion against mixed race families. You are only buying the burger right? So would you be ok eating there if you weren't donating?

promoting racial hatred is a wee bit different to having optional cosmetic items in a game. A better analogy would be McDs asking if you want to pay extra for a blue bag

Thing is though they aren't optional cosmetics. It contains legendary orcs which you need to complete the final mission. And this mainly started with them saying buy that one dlc and we will donate $1 of the $5 it cost to charity but only in like 4 American states the rest we keep. That was more the shady dealings that people weren't keen on.

Don't get me wrong people aren't too keen on the Microtransactions either but again some of it isn't them themselves but just adding extra fattening to their wallets on a game that would have sold well based on the first one and the preying on those with addictive personalities and have trouble not just ignoring them.

if you are fine with them adding hours of grinding time to final cutscenes because they literally think people will find it more worthwhile to pay to avoid the tediousness of a game that is supposed to be fun, then good on you.

Yea I'm not a fan of that analogy.

I'd say it's more like McDonald's charging extra for the burgers box and you have a random chance at getting the right box and then thry potentially make the burger a total mess to transport without the box.

But the box is totally optional unless you want to move the burger or spend hours loving at snail pace to ensure your walking doesn't make it fall apart.

Everyone is totally entitled to play the game. But people not buying the game is the only way to discourage it. I'll buy the game when EB has a sale in 6 months where it's 60 bucks or something.

I got the last one for $7 goty edition. I’ll probably do the same again if I get it at all. It’s not as though I’m pressed for games.

That is a spot on representation of what’s happening- but my analogy was more about a big corporate company with questionable values behind their product, and whether or not it’s still ok to enjoy the product.

I agree with ZombieRawkMachine, they are implementing a system which is psychologically predatory in nature. Dangling a carrot behind RNG, fracturing your experience of their game from others behind a ‘who dares wins paywall.’ And in a single player environment no less. At full price!

Back to the discussion at large: I had another thought. If someone data mined the game who knows what we may learn yet about the RNG. It’s not out of the question that the first loot chest you buy with in game gold could have a better success rate than future purchases. That way you get a sense that you could be one purchase away from a tremendous find, encouraging you to dip more often without too much reward. Dodgy slot machines in casino’s do this off a timer mechanic to play you. Scummy, yes, any more so than the proposed practice already in place, not really.

Everyone is entitled to there own options, I enjoyed the first game and I'm happy to buy the second release on day one.  I don't appreciate someone telling me not to buy it because they aren't happy with something with the game like the Microtransactions.

I play quite a bit of MUT on Madden, but I am not dropping extra money on player/team packs, but I still buy the game every year its released.

Nobody is telling you not to buy it. This topic is simply asking people not to encourage this crap behaviour, which is what buying it is doing. Even if you dont buy the microtransactions, it is saying you are ok with them making the game more tedious with the sole intention of annoying you enough to try make you buy them.

If you want to support that or just dont care then nobody can stop you buying it.

You not appreciating people saying "dont buy it because of this" is the same as me saying "I dont appreciate you buying it and supporting it", but the choice is yours. I cant make you not buy it.

They Made a game, and sell it to you for $60. They then apparently make it tedious towards the end to get the final cutscene, so that you want to pay them extra, to not have to play this game anymore......

If your fine with it, go for it.

To be fair its in the title. 'Please don't buy Shadow of War'. Granted its more of a request than an order.

If someone is making a comment like "i dont appreciate being told what to do" to that question, even with the word please, that seems odd.

Like if a sign said please drive responsibly it would weird to object to being told what to do.

It just seems to me like it was the only pro-other side angle that they could come up with.

"They" is a pretty general term. You're saying the voice actors, sound engineers, animators, motion-capture choreographers etc had a say in what becomes DLC and Micros-transactions? Most of the developers are just doing the job they love to feed their families, its WB and upper management who dictate how the game is cut and released.

I mean, the consoles we buy like Xbox and Playstation are built by the chinese company Foxconn who're notorious for their terrible and inhumane working conditions and high suicide rates. I dont see you making a forum about that or selling your console in protest.

If you assumed I meant the voice actors put the Microtransactions then I apologise.

Thats kind of apples to oranges. I dont dive that deep into what I buy, I just really look into the end product. I am very happy with my PS4, and I didnt buy an Xbox 1 back at release because I was unhappy with the end product. It looks like it has changed now, but there is no actual reason for me to buy one atm.
