I don't expect many to get up for this, but the Destiny 2 Gameplay Reveal is 18 May 17 @10am PDT.

I used the timezone converter and it works out to be 19 May 17 @5am for us in New Zealand.

Anyone else watch the Destiny 2 reveal? I felt quite underwhelmed unfortunately, especially with no mention of dedicated servers for PvP.

It just looked like Destiny 1 to me. What are other people's thoughts?

The storyline did look better but there's only one raid. Not sure how many strikes and the PvP is all 4v4, which I presume is there way of addressing the lag issues although Trials was 3v3 and that wasn't too great for lag either.

just feels to me like we're paying full price for another expansion but I'll be a sucker and buy it. Might buy the PC version too.

The social aspect is a great improvement and not having to go to orbit every time is great!

Baby woke early so caught the end of it, then watched the gameplay trailers after.
I liked the fact the story should be fleshed out and the most cinematics they've ever done.
The supers were the most underwhelming thing to me. Warlocks new super is basically the titans sunbreaker version with the sword. Hunters is just arcblade but with a staff. And Titans shield is a reharshed captain america vs Vault of Glass Templar/Atheon shield mechanic.
It was only a gameplay reveal so doubt they'll get into many specifics like PvP servers, beta dates, graphical specs etc till E3.

Mmo shooter...(but you can solo raid part to get loot 😑) main thing i have with destiny (i haven't play many mmo) is group sizes. .. fireteam of 3, raid of 6 and now pvp 4vs4... I still remember nzgamer pvp night of byrd and was it atomic trying to push "search" at the same time to get match up.... come on ..... lol

Definitely looks like more of the same, but given the amount I played of the first one I'll probably get it day 1.

If the story is more planned out and coherent it will be a massive improvement on launch Destiny 1. The gameplay loop I thoroughly enjoyed so will probably put lots of hours into the sequel as well.

Yeah, I completely agree with you but I guess what were we to expect really? The lack of focus on PvP improvements is atrocious. Confirmed 30 fps (at least I can save coin on not upgrading to a Pro  ), apparently no dedicated PvP servers (yet to be confirmed officially mind you), and 4v4 only (RIP Control  :() is pathetic.

Exactly what I expected.

Destiny 1.5 looks alright.

Quote of the day right there! Could have just given it a Spring update.

Yeah... Looks more like an update rather than a new game, but an update where you don't keep your old character / loot as well, so you can start all over again to make the game feel a little longer.

I think I might pick it up after the two expansions have released or when they do a "Destiny 2 Collection".

I hadn't seen the 30fps mentioned which suprises me considering that it is available on PC. There is NO WAY anyone on PC would play at that speed.

There was also a rumour  that you could play PC and PS4 using the same characters but I haven't seen that confirmed.

So what we know so far, with a few little bits revealed from some guys who have played the game already:

OVERVIEW

  • 4 new worlds

    • Earth

    • Titan

    • Nessus

    • IO

  • New public events, strikes, nightfall and (single) Raid

  • ‘Dominus Gaal and the Red Legion’ takes our home, light and weapons from Destiny 1. Say goodbye to your Fatebringer!

  • No new guardian classes

  • No need to go to Orbit when selecting missions, etc

  • More cinematics than ever before

  • PC version available through Blizzard Battlenet (not Steam)

  • Still patrols, chests, public events to do and now adventures (treasure maps, side missions and lost sectors to discover)

  • New Map to help guide your guardian. Events show up where and when they will happen

  • Released September 9th (Sep 8th in USA)

  • Beta available in winter (USA summer)

CRUCIBLE

  • New PVP sandbox

  • PVP is 4v4 (no 6’s or 3’s) across all games modes

  • PVP HUD has more information e.g. if opponent has Super, Power Ammo

  • New PVP maps and modes (e.g. arm and defuse bombs)

  • PVP maps designed for PVP first, Destiny 2 skinning second rather than Destiny 1 where maps had to fit in with the design. CSGO & Halo inspired with right lanes, rotations, etc

  • Trying to give it more of a competitive feel

  • No mention of dedicated servers (Boo!)

  • More abilities but no ability spamming (looks like 1 super per game)

  • Seems easier to kill Super-equipped guardians

  • Abilities supplement gun play rather than the current meta of gun play supplementing abilities

GUARDIANS / WEAPONS

  • 3 weapon slots

    • Kinetic weapons

    • Energy weapons

    • Power weapons (fusion rifles, sniper rifles, grenade launchers)

    • Can have same weapons in each slot

    • SMGs are available

  • Supers

    • Warlock has Dawnblade - like Bolt-Caster sword but solar

    • Titan has Sentinel - melee or throw shield

    • Hunter has Arcstrider - like Bladedancer but with a staff

    • Secondary abilities such as Titan half-shield that can be dropped for cover

  • Gunslinger throwing knife has inbuilt ‘explosive rounds’

    • Tripmine,Swarm, Incendiary grenades remain

    • Has a ‘dash’; a shadestep equivalent which automatically reloads equipped weapon

  • Ammo regenerates similar to how Trials does now

  • New exotic weapons e.g. new handcannon that does in secondary slot as it does solar damage. It has explosive rounds and creates sunspots on ground

  • Warlock has a Dawnblade subclass, similar to Sunsinger. This allows you to go straight to ground if exposed in the air

    • Fusion grenades STILL have tracking (Boo!) but don’t 1-hit kill (Yay!)

SOCIAL

  • Clans

    • Clan support in-game: In-game rosters, tools to build fireteams, custom banners

    • Reward system shared by all Clan members

    • Guided games - Clans and solo players can meet and play together (e.g. needing 1 for a Raid)

60+ unlocked FPS on PC.
4k, 21:9 support.
I'm still getting it on PS4 though.

^ Cheers for the link Spawn.

I have to say that considering there are no legacy systems with access to D2, it's f'ing pathetic that it is only running at 30fps on PS. Like you though, I will get it on PS4 despite this and my pet peev of PvP across P2P.

I was thinking of getting on PC as well but I think it might wind me up too much when I switch back to PS4 at 30FPS

Definitely makes you want to "do a Jor" and remortgage for a new PC though doesn't it? 30fps in 2017 is unforgivable!

I've got a 980ti and pretty new CPU in my PC so I should be good. The fps is unlocked on PC so you can go to 200fps if you have dual 1080's.

Apparently the reason it's 30fps on console is because there's too much action going on at once. The GPU can handle it but the CPU can't, hence limiting to 30fps but outputting in 4k.

There has been no info on whether Project Scorpio will be at 60fps.

Not one post after the reveal.....

Looks similar but a lot more shiny.

Finally 60fps, love their focus on allowing solo players to join clans and groups(guided games) and the extraordinary sound quality from the first game still seems to be there.
