Downloaded the demo last night and managed to play a few games before bed and have since played a couple more games tonight. As it stands I can honestly say the only enjoyment I've gotten is from advancing through the slick menus for the first time.

The demo gameplay is absolutely horrid, dribbling is completely broken, AI teammates are just as "dumb" as usual and scripting appears to be just as prevalent as usual.

I've already deleted the demo as there is no way in hell I can put up with the dribbling mechanics for even a minute more.

Tell us what you really think about the demo ;)

I'll give it a go tonight and see how it feels.

Gonna get PES instead?

I had an alright time with the demo, actually. I like that story mode quite a bit.

I think so which is a shame because I like taking a team from the bottom rung of league 2 to the top of the EPL and unfortunately I think PES only has promotion/relegation between the EPL and the Sky Bet Championship.

Gameplay always seems to alter quite a bit between the FIFA demo and the release of the full game so I'll probably give it another shot and hope the issues I have are rectified.

Last year I started with PES and made the switch to FIFA after 3-4 months and that seemed to work well enough as I got to enjoy the best of both worlds so I may end up just doing the same this year too.

I got PES this year but after the demo I'm thinking of returning it. It plays so much better but it lacks all the polish FIFA has. Still, in a sports game where the sheen wears off quick perhaps the better gameplay is what I should be looking at.

PESUniverse has an option file for members, perfect for anyone that struggles with seeing all the missing licenses, it only costs $10NZD and saves a lot of hassle.

Your right though, the menu system etc. pales in comparison to FIFA but at least it isn't as clunky as it used to be.

So I downloaded the FIFA demo and gave it another shot, it's not as bad as I originally made it out to be but for every positive I find, there's a negative just around the corner.

For one, I definitely prefer the scale of FIFA compared to PES but I just can't get over how dumb the FIFA AI is, for example the oposition goal keeper deflected a shot at goal and all my players could do was look at the loose ball in the box and wait for the oppositon defenders to clear it, not one of them even attempted to move towards it. That's the kind of sh*t that just ruins FIFA for me.

What annoys me about fifa is how a cb can manage to turn around when on the back foot and still manage to catch a full flight striker its so bull.

I might be way uneducated with this statement:

Fifa hasn't changed for 7+ years.

Fair call, mind you.

They amp up the smallest little things to make it seem like there is tonnes changing.

A few different screens and sliders, and some graphical updates.

Sadly, the actual tweaks they seem to make, makes it hard to revert back to previous versions.

So I'm a little confused, I've just played maybe my favourite ever game of FIFA; the game was back and forward, I made tackles, I won headers, I had a number of shots on goal etc. etc. and it finished in a 2-2 draw, now this was Arsenal vs Tottenham. I then played a 2nd game against Watford and won 4-0 and then a 3rd against Napoli and won 2-0. All pretty realistic scores.

The strange thing is though, this was playing on Legendary difficulty and yet I can't for the life of me win on World Class, on World Class the AI constantly passes it around the back 4, I can never win a header, I also barely make any tackles as the AI always seems to pass it right before a chance becomes available and I barely ever get any shots on goal.

I'm not sure what it is??? Is Legendary broken? i sincerely hope not. Or is World Class broken, did EA maybe screw something up when they were trying to hamstring the AI on lower difficulties?

EDIT: I was playing with sliders the night prior and didn't switch them back properly. So the AI sprint speed was set to 48 and Acceleration was set to 47, Decided to adjust sprint to 49 and acceleration to 48 and am still absolutely loving it, haven't been this keen to really dig my teeth into manager mode since maybe FIFA 13.

I've been finding it good so far.

Some challenging battles with the default settings.

e: looking forward to finding some good slider settings online to change the game entirely

Yeah I normally check out the operationsports sliders around the time I start to tire of the gameplay. Are there any other sites that you know of with good sliders?

Yeah it's in the settings and can change up the single-player quite significantly and there's quite a few different ones to muck around with. At the moment I've dropped the gameplay speed down to slow then increased both acceleration, top speed and passing speed, I've noticed by increasing acceleration and speed above 50 makes teammate AI much more active and their happy to chase down loose balls with no prompting from me.
