I've played a fair bit and feel pretty skilled up... Intill I race with sidawg and get blown away.. Then even he gets beat sometimes by the odd ball.

There are some interview summaries on gtplanet.net about the sound in GT Sport but I skim-read them.
Game physics are funny, I can't compare them because I play forza with controller ("sim" steering, but yeh all of the inputs are smoothed) and GT with a wheel. I didn't play a huge amount of P Cars nor iRacing but I love the iRacing physics... pity it takes so much serious dedication to be any good at it though eh. GT Sport will have to aim to strike a balance, of course.

Great news, it sounds like GT Sport is not aiming to strike a balance between sim and fun. This article mentions that you can actually get a real FIA recognised motorsport license via your in-game actions. Also that GT Sport is focused around online racing, with your results and racing etiquette recorded after each finish.

I had 10 years of club level competition, but transfering that to a game is totally different. Although I have never had the chance to try a proper wheel setup due to lack of space.

Okay, i mostly retract my comment about bad sounds in GT Sport.
A range of blow off valve sounds in the Bugatti!

Anyway it's sounding good. I wonder how it will compare to iRacing.
Oh and the VVV guy keeps using the word "guttural" but I don't think that word means what he thinks it means.
Actually I suppose it's ok as an expression to personify the sound somewhat. Idk why i got picky there.
Oh yeh and the virtual / real experience for a license is interesting. I'm sure there's a lot to it, like no one would let you just turn up and jump in a Formula car, right? But it makes a lot of sense for some levels of competitive motorsporting. It seems like all professional racers do some degree of practice/training/testing on simulators anyway, alongside their real experience, of course.

Wee bit disappointed with that bit of news, but at least we can still choose the time of day etc to race. Mmmmm, Nordschleife in the break of dawn.

Online endurance races are tricky eh. I wonder if they'll have a thing for stints and breaks and lagout-reconnections.

So... No dynamic time / weather
Personally bot bothered but it does surprise me.
Things like that don't bother me. Nice to haves but they in no way break the game unless you want to do a 12 hour. Dynamic weather is hard to get right and PCars only did an ok job of it IMO, the transition was terrible at times

I doubt GT Sport will have them, but I want the 70's, 80's and 90's Japanese cars back. They were fun to modify and play around with just to leave in the garage!

It didn't really provide a whole lot extra but... Gt fan boyism came over me.
I read today that sportsmanship points (used for matchmaking) sound like they would work as you expect.
Clean drivers that don't cut corners or hit people gain points and will get match made into games with like minded people.
Yay - hopefully public lobbies with clean racing!
Let's hope anyway

^ You've been on iRacing for a bit, right? I imagine it'll be very similar, with everyone taking extreme care not to cause any collision whatsoever. Though I wonder if it'll be frustrating trying to get your ranking up by winning clean races but getting knocked back by a crash you don't think you deserved. It should be fun.
Wow I didn't know it was up for pre-orders yet. I should have a looksie.

Clean drivers that don't cut corners
But that sounds good, only if it is implemented perfectly. Nothing (epic pun alert) drove me more [wheel] nuts than the inconsistent corner cutting detection of PCars... Although, it seems I didn't learn my lesson either... Corner cutting should not result in an artificial slowing of your car mid race. So many times that's cause accidents which is lame.

That sure is correct. Got to be perfect.
Yeah it's a funny issue. The cutting detection and penalties will need to be *perfect* if they want to run sanctioned racing. I predict some butthurt.
If games have loopholes, gamers going to exploit them.
I'm going to predict it won't be perfect to start with but updates will slowly fix things over time.
I don't get the trouble others do with corner cutting in CARS, I just... Don't cut corners and I don't get any problems lol
