How often does a new, online-focused game come out, only to have the servers buckle under the weight of all the day-one players trying to jump in? If you've tried to play Street Fighter V this week, there's a good chance you ran into such problems.

It's frustrating enough as it is, but in New Zealand, we have an extra layers of fun - a small population makes finding locally-hosted games difficult, and geographic isolation and relatively slow (but improving) connections often make latency an issue.

Because misery loves company, we want to hear your horror stories. What's the worst (or funniest!) experience you've had playing an online game from our little corner of the world?

Let us know in the comments on NZGamer.com, or in this thread!

The Weekend Chat is a new format we're trialing amongst other ideas for NZGamer.com in 2016. We'd love to hear your feedback on this.

One time I played Transformers:Rise of the Darkspark online.

Not huge story, that game is horror enough.

Pretty much this. Not so much in private lobbies with friends and community nights, but public matches were something else.

Final Fantasy FFXIV A Realm Reborn.

Server slots were so sought after people would go afk overnight just to not have to log off. Had to make a script to spam login while having dinner.

And the hype was crazy too which didn't help. Need to learn to calm it in future with such hype trains
