I was surprised when they announced backward compatibility with XBOX 360 games

This link has a list of first games off the rank...

http://www.xbox.com/...d-compatibility

What game will you load up first? Mass Effect for me - unless ofc we can remastered ME first :-)

cheers

Phil

Yeah it's the preview program selection. Should release in a few months with 100 at launch. You can vote on what games you want them to approve as well. http://xbox.uservoic...ity/filters/top

Also you can start redeeming all the 360 games with gold at this website http://www.xbox.com/...-with-gold/home

I'm more interested in all the XBLA games I already own on my account. Just wanna download those, wouldn't buy a 360 game off the marketplace.

They've said no usb accessories or kinect titles will work.
I tried battleblock theatre and it worked as expected

I wonder how many people will get caught out by the lack of named "start" and "back"  buttons on an XBox One controller. I can just image someone new to XBox downloading a 360 game in a couple of years and trying to figure out how to press "start".

I can understand why 360 titles that used USB or wireless accessories won't work and am not overly worried about it, as I had long ago resigned to the expectation that backward compatibility wasn't going to happen.

Tried a few titles not on the list, just to see what would happen - they didn't work. Tried a couple on the list and as far as I could tell, it was just like being on the 360.

I love that people (on other forums) are whinging about this. It's such an amazing technical feat that I was previously laughing at people who were wishing for it to come. And even though it's only available in beta form to preview members, you've got people crying "Only 12 titles!"

Just... ugh.

Anyway, I had a blast on Geometry Wars last night briefly and it all worked seamlessly. I'm hoping that Activision give the green light to Geometry Wars 2 and all of Sega's XBLA titles get ported.

Personally loved the announcement and with my big collection of digital 360 titles not a single one on that list so yeah they've got a long way to go to get me interested again....wonder if this will give us the chance for couch co-op that's lacking on the Xbox One at the moment.

Again, this is basically a beta for Preview Members - and it makes sense they would start with first-party, low-resource requirement, games.
We already know that the starting number of games for the actual launch of the feature will be literally ten times that, with games like Rainbow Six and Fallout 3 already confirmed (and the way emulation works, if FO3 is in, then FONV and Oblivion will definitely be there, and Skyrim (same engine base) is likely to be there too)

Yeah it's just the beginning and obviously will expand once it has be setup. I like this new step, its definitely in the right direction or perhaps made from the start. Better late than never.

Can we just talk about how Microsoft say the facility simply works by the developer ticking a box that says it's Compatible? That's incredible.
