Hey community

What sort of music do you listen to when gaming? Personally it depends entirely on the game but I love listening to Punk or Metal when playing FPS games. Just seems to help me achieve more kills. What are your thoughts?

Same, or I have the TV on and the game muted.

Have to say that All saints - pure shores was great to play to in GTA5 when doing long drives but that was part of the soundtrack :)

Depends on the game and whether the soundtrack is important... singleplayer or MMORPG games, I'll generally stick to the OST cause it generally aids in building the atmosphere in those games where immersion is just important as fun.

Multiplayer shooters not so much... I've spent enough hours playing Brink, Blacklight: Retribution and Warframe to my own music to the point where I associate that music to those games outside of playing them. Even then it still depends on the game... BF on PC kinda hates having iTunes running at the same time. BF3 was bad enough, but BF4 just flips its sh*t when I try.

I generally go for electronic, either something rhythm-heavy or atmospheric. Some fond gaming memories I hold are actually grinding out Borderlands' Underdome to You Love Her Coz She's Dead and drifting through Sleeping Dogs' street races at night to Anoraak. The more mindless, simple, fun stuff where story and atmosphere aren't important work quite well... and surprisingly enough I've played some DAMN good multiplayer FPS matches where I have no game audio and I'm just listening to music.

Sometimes I'll listen to some progressive or death metal, but I tend to find it too distracting, it's a bit more in-your-face and doesn't go in one ear and out the other as easy as electronic... unless you go for the real ambient stuff, but then it doesn't feel like enough.

Usually metal for any genre of games, but noticed it helps with driving games in particular lol.
