Countdown accuses another shopper of being a thief and apologises with a box of chocolates. Well what does she expect... looking like that?

Well does she expect... looking like that?

To be treated equally and fairly and not be accused of a crime she didn't commit?

If she didn't look like a dodgy hoodlum with piercings they wouldn't have looked twice.

The f***! Are you for real?

So because she has piercings and dye's her hair she must be a shop lifter? You officially take the complete muppet crown from Tuftsdude, well done.

I'm not saying she's automatically a shoplifter... but if you are of a certain appearance people will get suspicious.

As long as you don't look dodgy you should be perfectly fine... many shops are weary of Maori people though (it may be seen as racist but that's where most of the crime and trouble comes from in many situations.)

Yes you are.

You're saying she deserves to be judged because she has piercing and dyed hair. You're saying if a person doesn't fit your perspective of law abiding citizen then they must be a criminal.

People should be able to dress how they like without being judged.

So because you think someone looks like a criminal you have every right to treat them as such? Even when there is not a shred of evidence of them doing any wrong?

I guess we should all just dress the same, talk the same and act the same. Also we should all be white. No problems then huh?

Countdown (or any shop for that matter) has the right to conduct a search or ask a customer to leave at their discretion.

I often appear nervous in public... should I be asked for ID at the liquor store or be pulled aside at airport security? Same sought of situation really.

Get ID'ed if you look under 25. Airport Security I don't reckon they should, unless the sniffer dog sniffs ya or something shows up on X-Ray.

Also shops don't have the right to search your bag.

*behaving* suspiciously has cause for being treated suspiciously.

if a guy comes into a supermarket with his hands in his pockets and sunglasses, looking around his shoulder lots, keep an eye on him. if someones obliviously doing their weekly shop, maybe wait til you see them put something down their pants before asking them to leave based on their race or how they dress.

do you genuinely not understand the difference? ...the mind truly boggles.
