Always give them fizzy, especially red fizzy.

cool i thought any colour was ok,..

This thread is great - we have our first on the way and are about 5 1/2 months now. Going to be a boy. I've got no idea what I have to do but figure nothing can properly prepare you for it, especially if it's your first..

I'm going to hit you guys up for all sorts of tips..!

Hell yea man. Nothing can properly prepare you for it but my 2 maim bits of advice for this stage is:

1 - do all the classes like breastfeeding and anti natal classes. if you take 1 thing away from it its worth it.

2 - listen to all the crap people say. Someone might give you 20 bits of advice, if you use 1 bit of it its worth it.

Do you know the sex yet?

yeah we starting classes next month, looking forward to it. Most my friends have kids so gonna get  a lot of advice. We having a dude.

Same here, 10 years later and we still don't know what we're doing.

I'm happy either way boy/girl - can't choose so no point moaning. Wife was pretty keen on a girl though a I could see her being really good with a girl... she's stoked with a boy though..

But, all things considered we pretty lucky to be having one at all.

Cool thread. We have a 3yr old and an 8mth old, both boys. Most amazing last 3 years of my life, although can get challenging at times, but wouldn't have it any other way.

Women are generally known to have a stronger relation with boys (my wife certainly did)

It all starts that very moment they arrive, you can't describe it. Its just pure untainted happiness.
Its when they hit the 'learning' stage of 6+ months that it really starts to get enjoyable.

Great attitude. I wanted a boy because boys are awesome but I wanted a girl because I already had a name sorted so was pretty neutral going into the scan.

We are just at that fun 'learning' stage with number 2 (8mths old) starting to get mobile, having to kid proof the house (again) teach the 3 yr old what toys are ok for his bro. Can't beat the big smiles in the morning when first getting them up.

In my experience the twos are no different from the one's three's or four's, they all have their moments but two is pretty awesome. It's great as their vocabulary increases and their personality starts to shine, good times.

The older years are cool too by the way.

Well my wife gave birth to a little boy yesterday. I actually hate child birth - too damn intense and getting to watch your partner in all that pain and they best you can do is rub her back or say 'its ok....'. Afterwards its amazing, but during is horrible.

Anyway, he's all happy and healthy. I'm just at home now waiting till the 'opening hours' of the hospital (don't get me started on how they kick out Dads at like 8pm - would love to have stayed and helped out my wife who has been up for about 40 hours +....)

Congratulations to all of you mate, that is great news.

Know what you mean about child birth, you're just kind of there being all male and in the way but kinda needed at the same time, odd.
