Any idea when we can expect XBOX One voice control in NZ?

It feels like we are missing out on half of the features that differentiate it from the competition. I expected the TV stuff to lag behind for us but not the voice too. Maybe we will hear something at E3?

I know there is the workaround but would prefer native support. The amount of times I have wanted "XBOX, record that"! Surely if it can understand our mates across the Tasman it can understand us?

I hope NZGAMER will be asking the questions at E3 on our behalf?

What annoys me the most about it (not that I have a XB1 yet) is that voice commands are not something new and voice activated commands have been around for a long time Dragon Naturally Speaking first released in 1997 I don't understand why a simple learn your voice setup couldn't have been included if they were having so much trouble with it.

Add to this Kinect had voice commands available from the outset iirc they've added a few more commands but surely it couldn't be that bad that they can't sort it out for when they released this console.  I agree it's rather poor on their behalf.

Yeah, I've been wondering this too. Any idea when we'll get this? It's been ages!

Maybe we (not blakey) should offer to record us all saying stuff for them to hurry and get this sh*t sorted?

But really, I don't have much problem with the Aus one or the US one. They could just program those in and we would all be none the wiser..

Well considering all the poms who have invaded this lovely country theres not any excuse not too have the voicing feature. Have you guys who are using a different region signed up to the Kinect improvement data gathering thing

I honestly think its at the bottom of the to-do list for MS, I can't even remember when they brang in support for the 360 NZ controls, I remember I always had mine set on North America, which is also the same as what I currently have on X1, American seems to work better for me, not sure why, people say I dont really have a heavy Kiwi accent "unless i swear a lot" lol, But if your looking for time estimates, I agree with the guys above this comment, most likely in a few months, I wouldn't mind using North American settings all the time, but having to always restart my Xbox when I switch from NA to NZ settings is a bit tedious.

why a simple learn your voice setup couldn't have been included

Mostly because it doesn't work like this.

Lets just ignore the fact that the code base level of XO and 360 is different for now.

To create a voice control system, you have an .xml file which lists all the words and their actions.
This is easy to use when things don't change, i.e. Windows Phone voice control development for apps,( easy as, look at the list of words, pick one, what does what do now    ?)

Problem lies in creation of new words, and how there needs to be different audio "libraries" for each country.

The issue is connecting the voice to the word etc really.

And going back to the point about the code base, things need to be rewritten now, and that just takes time, yes it existing for 360 in nz. But that doesn't mean squat when it comes to getting it on the xbox one if things in that area have changed to much.

But SRS.

Just set to Australia and be done with it.

It does't matter. MS don't care. You won't be blacklisted.
It's been the same for developers on their systems WinApp/WP/etc , if you adjust to the country to get things faster, "oh look, you got it early, big woop"

I just think accent needs to be separated from region, like Blakey for example he could pick cockney and still have region to NZ.

Agreed. Voice recognition works great for me when I set the console to other regions. Allowing us to set different regions for accent makes so much sense.

Totally agree with breaking up voice from region. I will never go back to NZ region until they get the voice working (or they ban me) because the voice is such a cool and critical part of the whole experience.

I can't see why they can't just copy over the data from the Aus settings to NZ to make it work... I haven't had any issues at this stage.
