Hey so how come Jojo's Bizarre Adventure isn't popular here? It's massive in Japan and it's awesome... So what's up with that?

Post if you have never heard of it.

It's massive in Japan

Because we're in New Zealand?

Post if you have never heard of it.

What is this...

I've heard of it, but this request? How Reddit-esque...

I got to know it through DBZ, but I heard the writer stopped the manga or something? (Correct me if I'm wrong). I'm sure I've seen the manga at the library, but it never interested me.

Post if you have never heard of it.

Jojo is pretty popular with the western anime community though? I mean it is bigger in Japan, but there are several popular series in Japan that are hardly even watched by overseas viewers.

^ Not that JoJo, I'm talking about the cool one. :D

Hmm. Yah nah a friend in Japan just asked me if Jojo was popular here and I had to say no, but I do wonder why the difference. I understand it has a bit of a cult status, I have the impression of it being the anime of choice for the discerning, manly anime fan, but would it "take off" if there was a well promoted dub? I wonder.

Most people only know Part 3,(I started here). I only heard of JoJo playing the PSX fighting game . I like the art style and watching the animes I can finally understand the wierd sfx Araki uses in the manga.

^haha it makes no sense to me that the animators have kept the sound effects as on-screen katakana in the anime though. It is the strangest thing........ well, it is an uncommon thing to do.

I wonder if they would get changed for an english dub.

This is one of my favourite manga/anime ever. I read it for the first time in 2001 and I literally fell in love with it...till a certain point.

I have read the first three parts and some of the fourth one (dropped); have also take a look at the fifth but it looks like after the third part it's become even too exaggerated. Do not want to spoil, just saying it is like Dragonball Z which loses its appeal (for me) after the Freezer's saga.

Jojo part 1 - Phantom Blood 10/10

Jojo part 2 - Battle Tendency 10/10

Jojo part 3 - Stardust Crusaders 10/10

Jojo part 4 - Diamond is unbreakable 6.5/10 (starts to exaggerate...dropped)

Jojo part 5 - vento Aureo 6/10 (partially read and way less captivating...but it is located in Italy!  )

Jojo part 6,7,8 - Don't even know their names!

The Anime ended a couple of months ago (third part) and it was worth it. The current rumour is that they are starting to work for the first time on the forth part. I said 'for the first time' cause the first time the anime came up was only 13 episodes about the third part (good but 13 episodes are way to little to tell the story properly), Stardust Crusader and recently producers decided to make a new one starting from the first part to third airing 74 episodes.

Yah I read a bit of the one with sailor suit JoJo and it was ok. To be honest, I think that the Phantom Blood arc was pretty shite too though. Part 2 gets awesomer as it goes along and part 3 is the greatest thing that ever happened.

Is Joseph the first one? Joutaro is good and the second one is also. The first guy not so much.

The sailor suit kid is not good.

Read since 1987 and still follow.
One of the best Manga.

Disappointed on Steel Ball Run and Jolion but still follow in hope of Sensei Araki will bring go back to the old universe with patch that involves Dio.

Is Joseph the first one? Joutaro is good and the second one is also. The first guy not so much.

The sailor suit kid is not good.

Part 1 (Phantom Blood) is about Jonathan Jostar
Part 2 (Battel Tendency) is about Josef Jostar and the Ripple
Part 3 (Stardust Crusader) is the most popular part with first time of introducing "Stand", following story with Jotaro (Cujoh/Kujo) Jostar - Grandson of Josef Jostar
Part 4 (Diamond is unbreakeable) story of Josuke Jostar - illegitimate son of Josef Jostar
Part 5 Vento Aureo) follows story of
Giorno Giovanna - son of Dio who is long time Jostar family villian.
Part 6 (Stone Ocean) follows story of
Jolyne Cujoh - Jotaro's daughter
Part 7 (Steel Ball Run) is about parallel universe with the previous Parts, effected from the fight of Part 6 but timeline is in 1890. (worse part to me)
Part 8 (Jojolion)
is about parallel universe with the previous Parts, effected from the fight of Part 6. Same universe as part 7 in year 2011.

The last 2 are ok, not exciting but still good manga to read.

I've only heard of the fighting game, not the anime. Is the anime worth a watch?
