Tsingtao is one of my favourite beers! Number one for me has to be VB, though.

VB is a staple for me in Aussie and when I shop at New World

Whats wrong wif you people? Not even the Aussies drink VB.

Fav beer Crabbies

Least fav Waikato Draught or VB

Agree 100% with this, VB is truly obnoxious stuff.

Current Favourite: Samuel Adams Boston Ale

All Time Favourite: Hofbrau Munchen Original or Weisse

Favourite Style: IPA/APA

Favourite Stout: Cassel & Sons Milk Stout

Most Drunk: The Terminator on tap at CD brewery on an ENSOC tour (8% IIRC)

Worst Beer: Waikato Draught

Go to beers - Asahi Dry, Monteiths Pale Ale, Tsingtao, Moa Lager

Furthermost Brewery Visited: Budweiser Budvar Brewery - Czech Republic

First Beer: DB Draught from the original, real tin can of course!

Beer story: Flatting at Uni in CHCH. We went to a beer auction and secured a pallet (144 doz for those not in the know) of seconds Ranfurly Draught. It was a good idea at the time but by about halfway through the pallet a few weeks later it was horrific stuff. We had mandatory Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun funnel sessions where you were downing half a doz each at a time which put a bit of a dent in the stock. In the end we may have even left the last 10-15 doz in the garage for the poor unsuspecting students that moved in the next year.

Fav beer at the moment: Budweiser

Most drunk: Probably Tuis or Steinlager

Worst Beer: Waikato (Oooo the auntys wouldn't like seeing this :P)

Go to beers: Dobos (DB), Steinlager, Corona, Raddlers

First Beer: Have a photo with me as a youngin and a waikato in hand (Was probably empty)

After watching the Corona Megafactories on Discovery i'm pretty keen on drinking as my usual. The way they mass produce the stuff but keep the quality at a high impressed me.

Mine was all done with kits, so hoping some super beer maker is lurking around NZG and decides to share.

You'd need a fair bit of space to brew it wouldn't you? Assuming you're making more than a few litres.

I had a 20ltr drum, it made plenty of beer and took up bugger all space. I could start again next week all I really need is a blanket for the barrel but I would like to make something nicer than the kit beer. They're okay just not great and a little too sweet.

They're are not all bad, I had a dark ale (Coopers I think) which was pretty nice. It semi exploded a couple of times whilst brewing though :D The lagers I have made taste like a small step up from your typical 24 pack lagers, again not bad but certainly not great.

There's a bunch of dudes over on the Button Masher forums that seem to be really into it, see the brewing = beerporn thread under General. Someone there may be able to assist you.

Used to help my Granddad make an Apple liqueur back in the day, was pretty hit and miss on alcohol % but generally you ended up well-fonged after a 7 oz glass or two.

hmm, still doesnt sound like something id like to pursue. at least going non-kit itd probably be better experience and easier to stat tinkering with craft beers.

if its only a small step up in taste/quality, its not worth the cost? Quite an initial buy in if i'm not mistaken.

I really should ask my dad about this, hes got some brewing at the moment, due in a a week or so.

I think making your own is the way to go, kit stuff is really easy but kinda meh. Although I'm sure when i was doing it I read up about folks using the kit stuff as a base and building on that.

Cost for the kit is fairly cheap, works out to be the same you would pay for the amount of beer you get out of it and after that it's about $30 for 20ltrs, of the cheap stuff.

So it is cost effective is you make cheap stuff? I'll be moving in with friends in a month or so and having some home brew would probably go well, especially being able to group buy. How long does it take to brew a batch?

Either that or a stil.

Current Favourite - Emersons IPA
Favourite Style - IPA or lager
Favourite Stout - Not a stout fan, once did an amazing race where I had to scull a pint. I felt like there was a rock in my stomach for the rest of the day.
Most drunk - Heineken (beer of choice for corporates)
Worst Beer - XXXX (a seriously bad call)
Go to beers - Tiger, Tsintao

3 Beer recommendations for the week:
