This should make a good thread to discuss pretty much everything Xbox One.

It is getting close to release now and there is quite a bit of stuff being released about it.

Here is a video of the Xbox dash in operation:

So the list of launch 'Window' apps for the Xbox One has been announced, and what apps will be available in different regions.

Here is the pretty lackluster list for NZ, especially in comparison to the states:

New Zealand

  • MUZU TV
  • Quickflix
  • TED
  • Twitch

United States

  • Amazon Instant Video
  • Crackle
  • CWTV
  • ESPN
  • FOX NOW
  • FXNOW
  • HBO GO (coming soon)
  • Hulu Plus
  • Machinima
  • MUZU TV
  • Netflix
  • Redbox Instant by Verizon
  • Target Ticket
  • TED
  • The NFL on Xbox One
  • Twitch
  • Univision Deportes
  • Verizon FiOS TV
  • VUDU

Australia

  • Crackle
  • Machinima
  • MUZU TV
  • Network Ten’s tenplay
  • Quickflix
  • SBS On Demand
  • TED
  • Twitch

NFL game pass said they're working on an international app with Microsoft when I asked (after seeing USA's NFL app integrated in the one guide)

That would be awesome! Still enjoy that NFL Gamepass link you gave out. Each Monday night I watch some of the matches using the condensed feature. Be great to watch it on the big screen. Great opportunity for the NFL also to get more global fans and interest in their sport.

Seriously though, it shocking how little support there is out there for NZ. You look at the apps that the US has and it sucks balls man. Makes me consider, for a very short second if I should look at Slingshot as my provider for the Global Mode.

Was pretty excited to check out the Quickflix, their TV show selection however isn't worth the price imo. Seem to only have shows from the BBC. Movies seem good however.

Yeah, but if you look at the services that aren't actually supported in NZ to any capacity...

  • Amazon Instant Video
  • Crackle
  • CWTV
  • ESPN*
  • FOX NOW
  • FXNOW
  • HBO GO (coming soon)
  • Hulu Plus
  • Netflix
  • Redbox Instant by Verizon
  • Target Ticket
  • The NFL on Xbox One(?)
  • Univision Deportes
  • Verizon FiOS TV
  • VUDU

We basically get them all otherwise. The blame really lies with those companies and the mess they have with international distribution rights.

For example, did you know that Quickflix is owned in part by HBO, but HBO can't even put their own shows on the service because they sold the rights to Sky? Ridonkuls.

That is a pain, hopefully they can sort some of those extras out, because that will sell some units here in NZ.

It looks like Dick Smith Electronics still have pre-orders available.

One thing I don't like the sound of is how you must install a game in order to play it (same on PS/4) and given some of the install sizes the 500GB hard drive isn't going to be able to hold many titles. BF4 33GB, COD Ghosts 39GB, ACIV 20GB, Forza 5 31GB, Ryse 34GB. Won't stop me getting one, however will give me pause about what titles I have and actively play.

Good stuff Heavyrocks! What team were you on previously? Make sure you add us to your friends list - also don't forget to get Xbox Live Gold!

So after spending over $800 paying off my console and DR3 yesterday at EBGames, The Warehouse's deal was toooo tempting, so now my local (Newmarket) Warehouse, after spending about 45 mins there, is transferring a pre-order card from the New Lynn store to the Newmarket one for me. So if you go to New Lynn to pre-order your Xbox One, then I am the dick that stole your pre-order.

It was a tough decision, and I will still wait until my pre-order at the warehouse is in stone. I was really looking forward to the midnight release - but turns out money and free sh*t has won me over - once again ;)

That really pissed me off when I read it. My Sony TV has Quickflix built in but I've never used it because its lack of support. Mind, I don't use the YouTube app either and that has hellova lot more videos.

$697 for Day 1 edition, FIFA 14 and either Fighter Within or NBA2k14. Can't go wrong at that price as if you don't like it you could sell the extra game/s and console and not lose anything.
