The oldschool shooters from the 90s are about the only thing i still play on PC these days. Doom to this day still holds it down, that and Quake1 those are my bread n butter. I must have been under a rock because i just found GoG and its classic shooter heaven, so i'll be getting into all these others i havent played since i was a kid like Redneck Rampage.

Discuss? Bash? Recommend?

For anybody who's interested you can pick up Shadow Warrior for free on Steam too http://store.steampowered.com/app/238070/

Wooooooow, seeing this list brings back some memories. I think Shadow Warrior and Marathon are the only ones in that list I haven't played. When I think about the others (Doom, Quake, Heretic, etc) they all seem to blur together. Unreal Tournament was what I loved to play, I think it was the mutators that made it addictive for me.

I played more Quake and Quake II than anything so I had to pick those.  Action Quake 2 is still one of my all time favourite mods.

I voted ages ago for Duke Nukem. Cause, was like one of the first shooters I ever played in N.Z. I never had a memory stick so I played the first mission over so, so many time. Only got to the second place once or twice.

I used to have whole episode demos of a few shooters on an old PC like Rise of the Triads, Wolfenstein 3D and Quake :)

Dark Forces: one-upped Doom with the ability to crouch and jump; not to mention being in the Star Wars world and being able to use the force.

Loved Duke 3D back in the day. Loved how the maps had cinemas, bars, shops ect. How you could crawl through airvents and there were often multiple ways through levels. Multiplayer was fantastic too, especially deathmatches on LA Rumble. Spent too much time in the map editor back in the day too.

Also Rise of the Triad.

Just found this thread and whoah! Going down that list just brought back a lot of great memories! There should definitely be an ALL button!!

I went for Doom as I recall this to be the first shooter my friends and I played at our LAN parties! But I have great memories with each and everyone of these games... Anyone played Kill Da Fool With The Chicken? (Redneck Rampage). Duke was masterful of course but I enjoyed Shadow Warrior even more.

Shouldn't the original CS also be in this list? I played that heaps at my first IT job - after work of course, our Dev team would get a pile of pizza's and play CS and Quake 2: Lithium all night... And write some awesome code in between too.

I've played the snot out of pretty much all of them on this list, but for what it's worth we still wail on Quake pretty heavily at LAN parties. Nobody wants to play the original Quake any more, apparently I sent people into the lava on A Bad Place one too many times.

Duke3d.exe all day.

Amazing level design, some of the best weapons ever, jetpacks, dialogue ripped off of cheesy action movies, massive bosses and great enemy designs,

Really underated in classic gaming.
