You hear Mastodon on the radio thesedays as well.

March of the Fire Ants is mean. Love when the song gets mellower and that triple guitar melody comes in

Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb
Pink Floyd – One Of These Days
Boston – Smokin'

Haha sh*t, that's like the angriest list here.

Haha and I was trying to be nice, I left out the truly hideous Black Metal I like and left out bands like Portal.

fifamessi I will go back and get links, I'm at work at the moment.

Can you list the back metal songs you like? I'm into that genre.
Edit - I can link mine but I think most people would know all my favourites already? If anyone wants the links to mine let me know and ill do it tomorrow.

The Ulver song I posted, the Wolves In The Throne Room song I posted, Agalloch in general, Burzum, Altar of Plagues (thanks Cheesetastic). Just off the top of my head.

Somebody recommended them to me as a joke... and I gotta be honest, took one look at their song titles and antics and stuff and could kinda see why, instantly.

Hey geneterror. Got any recs for good death and black metal from this year? Feel like I should catch up. Only got Necrovation, Blut Aus Nord and Deathspell Omega.

Can you list the back metal songs you like? I'm into that genre.

Trying to kill two birds with one stone here:
Emz86, I have been listening to Thrash/Black/Death Metal since 1988/89 the thought of doing a list of favourite tracks from almost 20+ years of these genres makes my mind want to explode but I will do a list of new stuff, if you like any of it or want some more recommendations let me know. Always happy to help people out with finding new music.
Chris Redfield, I think we have quite different tastes in Death/Black Metal but have a look at this list and let me know if there is anything you liked.

My list has a lot of NZ/Aussie stuff on it as I believe along with South America we are releasing some of the best metal in the world at the moment. If anyone likes any of the NZ stuff and wants to grab a physical copy and you are wondering where to buy it but can't find where to buy it from hit me up and I will try and point you in the right direction.

Wrathprayer - The Sun of Moloch: Black/Death Metal in the vein of Proclamation or Anal Blasphemy.
SS-18 - Tetraktis: in my opinion probably the best Black Metal album of 2012. Raw, fast and in your face with savage vocals.
Witchrist - The Grand Tormentor: Brutal Death Metal with an occult flavour from NZ. In the vein of Asphyx, Bolt Thrower etc
Father Befouled - Revulsion of Seraphic Grace: Brutal NY styled Death Metal in the vein of Incantation. Not breaking any new ground but they are VERY good at what they do.
Heresiarch - Hammer of Intransigence: Death Metal from NZ with a bit of Black Metal thrown in. One for fans of Incantation, Bolt Thrower, Archgoat etc. The vinyl version also has some of the best artwork I have ever seen!
Ulcerate - The Destroyers of All: In my opinion the best Death Metal album going at the moment. Technical yet memorable songwriting. These guys are about as "cutting edge" as a Death Metal band can get without completely moving into different get! Again they are also from NZ so support that sh*t if you like Death Metal!
Horrendous Disfigurement - Demo 2012: Brutal Death Metal from Napier in the vein of Deeds of Flesh and other Unique Leader styled bands. Good old fashioned brutality!
Blood Of the Moon - Demo "MMXII": New Zealands own "Heathen Horde". There new (limited to 100) demo CD is a great example of Black Metal without imitating the traditional Norwegian/Euro sound that has been done to death.
Grave - Endless procession of souls: Great, straight up Swedish Death Metal from one of the innovaters of that particular sound. If you like any of the Swedish classics ie. Left Hand Path, Like an everflowing stream or Into the Grave check this out!
Ignivomous - Contragenesis: New album from the Aussie Death Metal band, again for fans of Incantation and Immolation but with amore "occult" feel.
Skuldom - Kill this f***ing world: Truly vile Black Metal from New Zealand, one of the greatest Black Metal bands of all time. Drums, Bass, Vocals and no guitar but they still have the dirtiest sound I have ever heard. They are are amazing. Skuldom are playing in Auckland early next year.

What makes you think that? The bands I mentioned before?

The sh*t you posted is pretty much the stuff I dig the most. Raw, violent, dirty and evil stuff. That Skuldom track is wicked. Already enjoy Witchcrist, Ignivomous and Ulcerate didn't realise they had albums out this year. Will work through the others. Thanks :)

Because I'm horrendously procrastinating some applications I'm going to revive this here, nwah.

Patti Smith - Because the Night (youtu.be/WSVd8szH7Qk)
- Should need no introduction

M.I.A - Big Branch (youtu.be/oqcqz_fMzME)
- Hip Hop/Rap/Electronic

Iskra - Bureval (youtu.be/8t20vNUtXyo)
- Crust Black Metal

RAMBO - If our Leaders Are Impotent Only the People Can Rise (youtu.be/awmOIahStqQ)
- Hardcore

Goon Moon - Apple Pie (youtu.be/oQoU5u0dNRc)
- Modern 70s style rock

Gary Numan - Down in the Park (Linked to a live version with NIN, cause it's rad (youtu.be/WGp5T9Kpz5o)
- Should again need no introduction, but he's somewhat fallen into obscurity. The father of electronic dance rock/metal like NIN.

Einsturzende Neubauten - Feurio! (youtu.be/9jdsjX6u5Sg)
- Inventors of industrial rock

Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon (The chorus riff in this is, in my opinion the best BM riff ever - youtu.be/LtT3AIX3_js)
- Classic Black Metal, genre pioneers

Emperor - I Am the Black Wizards (Probably the second best - youtu.be/WWWXKnN7xao)
- Classic third wave Black Metal

Mayhem - Freezing Moon (Live video, because personally I think Maniac is a better vocalist than Dead or Attila. "Weaker," fumbles more, yes; but he has a much rawer feel than either IMO, which is what modern Mayhem lost youtu.be/y84gW_5ZFKE)
- Black Metal Pioneers

Amebix - Drink and be Merry (The f***ing HEIGHT of Crust Punk - youtu.be/paRVoLD4ETQ)

Gallhammer - Blind My Eyes (Some people dont like the squeaky chorus vocals in this song, I think they're amazing youtu.be/Zq8_lB6J6Mg)
- Crust, D-Beat Black Metal

Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole (www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOaksbDV81A&feature=share&list=UUWG_15_axvizZxdAu16h2wg)
- NIN

David Bowie - Moonage Daydream (youtu.be/5g6--QoPsDM)

Well that was far more than ten, and I could still go on, so I'll leave it there.

Links are out on well, all, to avoid the media allocation. Just put http:// in front of the youtu.be links.
