Super September Race Series

So who's the ultimate racer? Is it you? Well here's your chance to make this dream a reality!

Starting from the 18th September 2012 we will be running a race series consisting of Four rounds (one month) once a week, Three races per night.

There will be some awesome spot prizes, games, codes,T shirts etc every week and a prize for the overall winner!

Each week Brettzor will give you the heads up on what to expect for each race round( car, track etc)

So get in there and sign up here!

Each driver will be racing for points, with a leader board that will be updated regularly, here's the point system:

1st - 25 points
2nd - 18 points
3rd - 15 points
4th - 12 points
5th - 10 points
6th - 8 points
7th - 6 points
8th - 4 points
9th - 2 points
10th - 1 point

The following settings will be the same for every night:

Damage: Light
Penalties: Low
Boost: Low
Catch up: none
Start type: Grid start with false check (except for Nascar)
Tyre Wear: None
Grid Position: Fastest first (everyone will have a set time to set a fast lap) for the first race on each night: then Reverse Grid for the next 2 races
Assists: All off except ABS

How to Join In
It's real easy to participate - Here's the skinny:

Setting up for the first time:

  • Make sure you've got the latest updates for Gran Turismo 5 - simply run GT5 while you're online and the game will prompt you to update, if you haven't already
  • Make sure you're friends with brettz0r on PlayStation Network - if you're not sure how to add a friend on PSN, check out this handy guide
Setting up for week's race:
  • Make sure you have the car( details will be posted before hand)
  • At 8pm on Wednesday:
  • Start the game
  • Go to GT5 Life
  • Choose 'Community'
  • Find my gamertag brettz0r
  • Select the little icon in the top-right of my gamer tag to join the lounge
Once you're in, you can choose 'Free run' to practice on the track with the other racers, and have a chat too. At 8:30 I'll start the race, and you'll get an automatic countdown; once it's finished - we're on!

Tip: Please do not choose 'Start Race' as this starts the event, which means I need to arrange to cancel and re-do everything.

See you all there!

<---------Edit Weds 10-10-12---------->
Tonight brings an end to the first GT5 series run over a few weeks, it was a pleasure racing with everyone and bought out some close, high action, high paced racing!

It was a close battle for the top 2 spots in the championship with me (BrettzOr) bringing it home on the last night, just besting Sidawg.
First Place (BrettzOr) gets the prize of knowing that he had fun!
Second Place (Sidawg) has earned himself a copy of Twisted Metal! Congratulations Sidawg, please PM Teljam your details and he will send it out asap.
Third Place (Triumph) would get a tshirt but I think he already has one :P If you do want another one - let me know and also PM Teljam your details. If not: either nominate someone in your place or the first person (who attended the races) to say they want it - can have it!

Its been a good series and thanks again to everyone for showing up!

Awesome.
Keen as for this myself. Feel free to spread the word.... the more people, the more support that we can get for future events like this.
Everyone should turn up for some fun racing, laughs and maybe even some spot prizes.

Are cars expected to be standard? As in the PP will be restricted to whatever the car is usually when you buy it off the dealership, leaving the tyres (super soft) and then subtle adjustments as the only changes?

I'm thinking of the karts too, whether all of them should be brand new from the dealership, or whether the fabled "Kiwi Tune" is allowed :P

I was thinking about that with karts too; I think either we make them std or post the "Kiwi tune" on here so that no1 is at a dissadvantage.... (I don't think that it is possible to prevent anyone from changing the tunes within the game, So I think it would be fairest / easiest to just theif Kwi's tune and make it public) I would do this but I do not think I know it...?

But with the Mini's (Next Weds) plus the Nascars, I would tune them up as much as it will let you.... I know I will be. (Ie - make sure you do an oil change)

The only event with a PP limit is the................ 400 PP limit race :P

I just messed around with the gear ratio to make the top speed slightly higher. Someone could probably come up with a better tune than mine, but it all depends on the track.
I won't even be able to make that race anyway.
