Anyone here read George R. R. Martin's wonderful epic fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire? If you have then you're probably aware that it's being made into a TV series called Game Of Thrones on HBO, due to start airing in the US in April.

The cast includes actors such as Sean Bean (as Eddard "Ned" Stark), Mark Addy (as King Robert Baratheon), and Peter Dinklage (as Tyrion Lannister). The series will be very faithful to the books, in which any main character can (and often does) die unexpectedly.
This show is easily the one thing I'm anticipating the most year out of all TV shows, videogames, and movies :)

YES!!! I've been following the development of the series on GRRM's "Not a Blog" since early 09... nearly two years :o
Still that's a drop in the ocean comapred to how long I've been waiting for A Dance with Dragons <_<

I follow the "Not A Blog" too, and it's always exciting to see he's added another entry to it. It's annoying however, that he often posts about NFL or his other books or his miniature collection, rather than news on ADWD...
It's been SIX years since A Feast for Crows came out, and God knows how much longer till A Dance with Dragons is released. Then there's two more books still to come after that! Sometimes I worry that he'll die before the series is completed. :(

Phew I though I was the only addict here

I used to frequent his site almost daily, nowadays I check it weekly at best. It's unfortunate but I can't see him finishing his Epic either.

What I can't grasp is how Steven Erikson is able to pump out one book per year, every year?! Up until now Erikson has satiated my thirst for fantasy but with the "The Malazan Book of the Fallen" finished I need me some DANCE!

There seem to have been a couple of positive updates on ADWD. recently

And on other fronts... it's still snowing on Skull Island, but one of the krakens is done and t'other is down to the last tentacle. Closer and closer... inch by inch, word by word, step by step...

And now we return you to your regularly scheduled programming, and me to Skull Island, where Kong is staggering a little.

Meh I'm probably just getting my hopes up once again.

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!

I never thought this day would come. Must be about time for a re-read!

I'm still a little hesitant though, he stated he hasn't actually finished it yet...

Here's the sneak preview that screened on HBO in the US today - the opening fifteen minutes of the first episode. It follows the book accurately too, with everything just as I'd imagined it.

So has anyone been watching this? It's three episodes in now and the show has well and truly lived up to my high expectations. The production quality is outstanding, as you'd expect from HBO.
All the actors are doing a fantastic job in their portrayals, and many of them even resemble how I'd imagined the characters would look when I read the books. Actually, I'm currently re-reading the Song Of Ice And Fire series before the new book comes out in July, and I'm already envisioning the characters to look exactly as they do in the show.
Right after the first episode had screened a few weeks ago, HBO announced that they will certainly be doing a second season.

There's plenty more where that came from. Namely episode 7.

Ironically I was looking for a new TV show earlier tonight and came across this (it's ranked #1 in a place or two so I don't know how it's slipped by me). Looks like it could be quite good. Might watch the first few eps and see how it goes.

I watched the second episode tonight. I'm really starting to like it; I like how plot heavy it is: there are so many plot threads, making it pretty interesting trying to figure out all the links. I know I'm in the early stages, but I can tell this'll probably end up great further down the line.
