$500 seems a bit much for the wifi version, considering how the 3DS price translated from the states.. Hopefully some better deals pop up closer to release.

Vita isn't a 3DS though, Vita specs are better than a 3DS. I'm not sure what you were expecting. $500 aint ott, i thought it would more on launch. Sure its a handheld, but the production value is much higher, its pretty much a PS3 really, from the games i've already seen, quality is booya. Just import it if the price is beyond you, i doubt there will be any better deals upon release in nz.

Like already stated it works out about $350-80ish.
Smart people will import it.

I'm not talking about the tech pricing, I'm talking about the conversion rate.

Dick Smith Electronics have now pushed the release window to 2012, but reduced the price to $449.

Party chat and group messaging sounds good.

Taken from forum.nihongogo.com

Party – Fancy a chat while you're gaming? Speak with your friends anytime you like with Party. The voice and text chat application allows you to talk to up to eight party members, no matter what you're doing. Party also allows you to set up and jump in multiplayer games and chat with Friends while you play different games, bringing cross-game chat to PS Vita.

Group Messaging – Another great way to contact your PlayStation Network friends is with a PSN Message. Send them an update or even a picture you've taken with your PS Vita to let them know what's going on. You can message your friends on PSP and PS3, and you can have conversations with multiple people at once.

Thought this was interesting too ...

JB Hi Fi. Its $438 for the Wi-Fi only and $538 for the 3G. That's recommended retail though, they said it might come down.

Considering the memory cards will cost mega-bucks, here's hoping.

I need to set aside some money for the launch, as I really want this with the great line-up (compared to the 3DS). At any rate, I should get it within the first few months.

looks like there is no online multiplayer for Modnation Racers: Road Trip so I'm going to be removing that from my PS Vita Launch layby, its really stupid that you can race against others online, they probably could have got a lot more sales if you could

That's a huge missed opportunity, these user-based content games need the MP to extend the life. I can't imagine Modnation and LBP on ps3 without the online shenanigans and fun. :(

Yeah I just hope LBP still has online multiplayer when it gets released, probably won't buy Modnation at all now that there is no online multiplayer

Was kind of worried about this with the vita.. not giving it their all.. to me Modnation with no online MP is half assed. Especially when they push how cross platform (ps3/vita) is such a great thing and cloud save etc.. Hope this isnt a common thing because there is no excuse.. if it came out on ps3 with no MP there would be an uproar.. just becauseitsa vita we dont need MP? Horse sh*t.

The more i see of this bad boy i want!

Think i'll get the 3G version now too, NEAR looks like it could be a killer app. and i don't want to have a WiFi and wish i had 3G, I'd rather have a 3G and wonder why i needed it.. If that makes sense :P

Bring on the 23rd.
