I think some older gamers such as myself can be a bit jaded about this stuff.

There's a few points I'd like to raise about this:

Halo's branding is important, because things remain the more-or-less the same. I feel certain that if things radically changed in a Halo game, FAR more people would complain about it than those that complain otherwise.

Many people are in fact already complaining that too much has changed.

But most of all, one has to remember that the game is written for a market, not for us as individuals. I've been a PC gamer until earlier this year, and ODST was my first Halo game. I'm enjoying 'Reach' no end, and have bought the limited edition, which I've really appreciated for its approach to introducing me to the lore of the Spartans.

As well as many like me, who may not have played a Halo game before, think of the 100's of thousands of young people who weren't capable of playing even Halo 3 (that was almost exactly 3 years ago). Don't they have a right to enjoy Halo on the latest generation of technology, applications, and art?

So in summary, Halo Reach is another Halo game... true maybe, but it's basically self-evident.

Is it a good game? I think so. I'm sure others will disagree. Is it bad for being a Halo Game? No.

well said ^.

I have played every game in the franchise and pretty much on release for every single one too (Played Halo 1 a few months or so after the xbox released in NZ) so I have seen the evolution of the franchise in each of its times. And like I said, the armour abilities are the biggest change probably from any game in the series, and like you said it has made people complain a lot. Personally I think it has made Halo for the better, and added a more tactical approach than before.

On that note...I can sorta understand armour going full pro lockdown and making you invulnerable.

But super soldiers having sprint? Wat?

The jetpack was all kinds of cool though...gravity hammer drops never ceased to be fun

DUAL PISTOLS DUDE

Read first post, I dont play consoles...pistols require some semblance of aim.

Mouse and Keyboard are my weapons of choice...hence needlers become hilarious.

I am guessing you didn't play Halo 1 then? The ending was the best bit of the whole story and it was great for someone like me who loved the first game.

I played Halo, but not till the end. Finished Halo 2 which had a disappointing ending. Finished Halo 3. But I couldnt stand the MP in Halo 3

But I love MP in Halo Reach.

But the ending scene just didnt do it for me. Wow, you get to see Master Chief for like a second.. they honestly could have done better than that.

It wasn't about seeing MC though, it was about how it connected to the very start of the first Halo game which I thought was very satisfying for a prequel.

and the MP is definitely better than 3's.

I heard that!

And a swat playlist...

I heard through the grape vine that Campaign matchmaking should be coming sometime next month.

I've been looking for something on playlists, but not able to find it.

Is there a way to set up firefight games for open party?

I looked in custom games, but the only options are friends list or local. I wanted to set up a custom game to get some groups to make attempts on the firefight score achievements.

Perhaps something to suggest for game night...
