Not as bad as what 'Xbox 360' sounded like when they first annuonced the name, but i would've prefered 'Revolution' over 'Wii'.....

It is a crap name, but think about how much talk it's generating on the net. Every gaming forum I go to has a lot of people ranting about it. My first reaction was to tell everyone online on MSN about the name. No publicity is bad publicity. Having said that, it's still a crap name.

screw changing it back to revolution, im just not sold on Wii. we knew Revolution wouldn't last and it is a bit big and weird to just say to regular family members
mum - what're you doing? kid - playing revolution mum - ohk . . . now; mum - what're you doing? kid - playing wii mum - what?! *comes over*  i just call them Nintendos anyway so it doesn't really bother me too much. Its still a sorta sh*t name. I want to see some print ads or something to see if it sounds cooler when they're marketing it. XXD my family knows them as Nintendo aswell not as the specific thing, same with Xbox, its just the new Xbox, not Xbox 360 or X360. QUOTE that poor owl . . . it'd probaly look better with a small 'W' and no controller. but thats just me. ^_- |

Sources tell me that the people who should have said "no" didn't have the backbone too. It leads me to believe that someone like Miyamoto came up with this name and nobody had the guts to tell them that it was stupid (or at least what the connotations of "wee" were). That's the problem when you build up someone's reputation to god-like levels.

Thats an ok name for in Japan I suppose, but here and in the States, it's just laughable. Revolution was miles better. Stupidest thing since either:

The name is great. Universal, short, catchy. I also like the symbolism of the two ii. And, no, I'm not a Nintendo fanboy - I prefer PC Engine.
